Rucete ✏ Biology In a Nutshell
1. Auxin (IAA - Indoleacetic Acid)
- Promotes stem elongation
- Involved in phototropism (response to light) and geotropism (response to gravity)
- IAA is a naturally occurring auxin
2. Gibberellins
- Stimulate stem elongation
- Induce growth in dormant seeds, buds, and flowers
3. Cytokinins
- Promote cell division
- Cause leaf enlargement
- Delay aging (senescence) in leaves, cut flowers, and fruits
4. Ethylene
- Promotes fruit ripening
- Influences elongation of roots, stems, and leaves
- Triggers aging and leaf drop
5. Abscisic Acid (ABA)
- Inhibits cell growth
- Helps in stomatal closure, especially under stress conditions (e.g., drought)
